Aeonium and other succulents and grasses line the new concrete pathway complimented by Mexican pebbles. To gain more usable space in this narrow landscape and update the hardscaping and overgrown garden, my design reconfigured the pathway with poured-in-place concrete pavers accented by Mexican pebbles and a stunning variety of succulents and other site-appropriate plantings that thrive in shade and part sun. We removed the tree to create a patio area large enough to fit a table and chairs for a small group. Non-invasive/clumping Bamboo was added to help screen the patio and provide privacy. Other shade to part-shade plants were included that provide a variety of textures and colors throughout the seasons. Low-voltage lighting was installed for safety and ambiance. Clay brick pavers were chosen and installed in a running bond pattern for the walkways. The front walk leads guests to the front door through a stunning perennial garden. The large circular design in the front walk creates a great focal point. A clay brick walk leads guests through a post and beam arbor into the backyard entertaining space. This space includes a post and beam pergola with three posts, circular seating bench and wood burning fire pit that creates an intimate space. Clay brick accents were incorporated in the grill island and large wood burning fireplace and columns. Fire features were integrated into the columns on each side of the fireplace and seat walls.

An Argentine saguaro (Echinopsis terscheckii) cactus, variegated agave (Agave americana var. medio-picta 'Alba') and a carpet of silver ponyfoot (Dichondra argentea) create a striking xeriscape vignette at the entry to the garden from the street.

Wow! Curb Appeal! Many clients come to me to express how their front yard landscape lacks curb appeal, color, interest, and is just not welcoming. The first recommendation I make is to add a more inviting and functional walkway to their front door. Most sidewalks are off the driveway and difficult to navigate when cars are parked there. The next is to add colorful, albeit low maintenance, and flowering plant material. My installation crew, Showcase Landscape and Irrigation, https://www.facebook.com/Showcase-Landscape-And-Irrigation-262124380507467/ are unsurpassed at the installation of beautiful flagstone walkways, patios and stone work. Showcase just completed this gorgeous walkway and front yard transformation for my client in Fort Collins. Curb appeal is more than just adding plant material as you can see from my design and finished photo below. Thank you Showcase! Design by Tanya Fisher, Colorado Vista Landscape Design, Inc.
